In the AI Era, Do Humans Still Need Memory?

In the AI era, do humans still need memory?

I'm a record geek who uses StandBy to capture every utterance and make all data searchable.

Lately, I'm anxious about my fading memory.

How fulfilled is a life? Maybe it's the total volume of memories.
If I lose my memory, I fear I'll become empty.

If every day repeats with nothing memorable,
"It's Christmas already?!" becomes a yearly fate.

Likewise, if I forget the fun times, the hard times, and gratitude toward people,
life will drain away like water from a cup full of holes.

Training memory means making the cup bigger and the holes smaller.

Back in school (and still now) I rarely took photos.
I thought burning the moment into my eyes beat pressing the shutter.

But I forget.
I regret not keeping those moments.

AI to vividly recall memories will surely be built,

but even if AI remembers everything,
even if my brain stays empty,

will I feel my life truly existed?

If humanity gives up on memory, maybe we'll implant chips,
replaying life in minutes—like the Hyperbolic Time Chamber in Dragon Ball.

At least for the next decade, I want to cherish my memory and avoid becoming hollow.
